College of Informatics from Chisinau resides in the renovated building of the first school of viticulture and winemaking from Basarabia which was founded in 1842. The main building of the college dates back to the same year. It has remained practically unchanged and due to this the building is considered as a historical monument. Till 1966 there had been trained the specialists in the field of grape growing and processing.
In 1966 Industrial-Economic College began its activity in this building, where for nearly two decades and a half were being trained thousands of economists, accountants and commodities for the national economy. As well, in 1986 there began to be trained lawyers.
In 1990 the college was reorganized into Republican Lyceum of Informatics, the first lyceum of this kind in Moldova and since 1991 into the Republican College of Informatics from Chisinau. The actual name the institution got in 2004.
With the years, centuries, block of study of viticulture and winemaking school was completed by new construction. Due to the selfless work of teaching staff in the period between 1998-2003, at the expense of extra resources was made the largest investment in material and technical basis of the college.
Thus, 35 classrooms were built in this period, the heating system and fountain were put into operation. Recently the college has been fully renovated; it has got nice and modern appearance but it still keeps refined architectural style of the nineteenth century.
